Amy Fox

Writer. Editor. Feminist knitting designer.

Editor

Note: Currently on hiatus from all editorial work.

I am a freelance copy editor and proofreader, with proofreading introduction and progress training from the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, so you can be sure of a professional service. If you’re a traditional publisher then I have been using the BSI proofreading marks for many years; if you would prefer your work to be edited electronically, I can also annotate PDFs using sticky notes, or use track changes on Word.

I worked as an editorial assistant at Let’s Knit magazine for almost two years, where I regularly edited and proofread copy – including complex knitting patterns! If that’s not proof that I’ve got an eye for detail, I don’t know what is.

I was also an award-winning editor-in-chief of Concrete, UEA’s student newspaper in the academic year 2012-2013. You can read the issues I helped to write, edit and design here.

In 2014, I co-founded the online lifestyle, culture and politics magazine Abstract and have been regularly commissioning and copy editing content there ever since. There’s lots of interesting stuff, make sure you check it out!

If you need an editor and you think I can help you – whether it’s for a website, book, or your university dissertation – then I’ll be delighted to hear from you!

  1. Brilliant editing and a fast and friendly service. Amy really helped me see the mistakes I was making in my work. I highly recommend having your writing proofread and edited by Amy before submitting it to agents. Brad Sutherland
